Hi everyone,

Thank you for visiting this page. My dad, Michael Wynne, was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer.  It has been an incredibly difficult few weeks for us as we process this news and quickly scramble to change our routines so we can focus on his treatment and care.  He has already had surgery to have a GI tube placed and will receive his nutrition through that until he is able to undergo an esophagectomy, or removal of the esophagus.

** Update 2/6/19** He will begin chemotherapy next week as he is no longer a candidate for radiation or surgery with how far advanced the cancer is. We are hopeful that surgery will be an option again if there is success with the chemo/immunotherapy.

** Update 2/19/19** He is feeling good after starting chemo last week, nauseous and tired but nothing too bad which is great. We are still working on getting his seen at Beth Israel.

** Update 4/1/19** He has had some complications with the tumors spreading in his abdomen and had to switch chemo medications to one that has had very painful side effects. In between chemo rounds he feels pretty good and his spirits are up. We are hoping to switch back to the chemo that gives him less painful side effects in a few months.

With the money raised we will be able to cover transportation costs for all of his treatments and appointments and start on the medical bills. We will also be able to provide him with high quality nutritional formula so he can keep his strength up during chemotherapy.

I really appreciate all the love and support that has been coming our way in these most difficult weeks. We have high hopes that we can make some real progress with his upcoming chemo. I will keep you all posted.

Also, as a PSA I would also like to add that if you or someone you know suffers from chronic heartburn - please, please  make sure you are getting routine check ups and especially if you also have a lingering cough you need to be seen right away.  Even if you take OTC medications to control it, heartburn may seem like no big deal, but it can be dangerous. If you have heartburn symptoms 3 or more times a week for the past 3-5 years or more, you should see your doctor. Please be vigilant about getting screened if you think you may be at risk.

My family and I are so appreciative for any donations that may be made, and just for you all taking the time to read this.

Love,
Briana
