Harlan's Baseball Fundraiser
Donation protected

Harlan Chervatin was six years old the first time he played baseball. At eleven, as a Pender Pirate coached by Danny Martin, Harlan was the closing pitcher when his team made Pender Island history in 2018, winning the Greater-Victoria city championship. After outgrowing Pender Island baseball later that year, Harlan’s love and talent for the game led him to play for the Victoria Eagles, ranked among the top teams in B.C., as a pitcher and infielder.
Since then, Harlan has been practicing and playing games and tournaments with the Eagles 11 months per calendar year, the spring and summer months being the busiest among them. This means that every April to August, Harlan and his dedicated parents attend three practices and two to three games per week off Pender Island. This demanding baseball season places massive constraints on each parent’s work availabilities, as well as saps income for travel costs, including ferries, gas, food and accommodation, with out-of-province games and tournaments incurring even higher expenses. Even in a pre-pandemic economy, this was a daunting task financially. As the current economic climate continues to impose more and more limits on individuals and families, for this Pender Island family, the ferry costs alone have become overwhelming.
Please consider giving what you can, and if you have a moment, please feel free share this gofundme with anyone you know, online or off. The Victoria Eagles are also accepting mail-in donations for Harlan by cheque at: 4161 Glendenning Rd. Victoria, B.C. V8X2B4. Anything, no matter how small, would be a tremendous help to Harlan and his family this baseball season.
