Hello world! My name is Stephanie De Santi. I am a triathlete, cyclist, freelance writer, and stylist, with a passion for being on the road and inspiring others. I grew up in San Diego, California, where my love for riding bikes began at an early age. As a kid, I remember the excitement of my first bike and the freedom it gave me to explore my surroundings and venture into my imaginative and whimsical little brain. As a child my bike was one of my greatest gifts, and I like think that things remain the same as an adult.
Throughout my life I have worked with, or been involved in, organizations that enhance the lives of children with special needs. My next venture is important to me as I feel I've been called to pour my heart into another similar organization. I have created this gofundme page to raise money for, and bring awareness to, a charity that builds custom bicycles for children with special needs. Due to the costly expense of a custom bike, a majority of children with disabilities will never know the freedom of riding a bike, or being able to explore their imagination while cruising the roads on two wheels. Custom/adaptive bikes for children with disabilities range anywhere form $500-$2,000, depending on the child’s limitations.
On September 25th, 2016, Variety The Children’s Charity, will be celebrating their 75th anniversary by giving away 75 adaptive bikes to children with disabilities. My hopes are to raise, at minimum, $1,000 to go towards building an adaptive bike for a child. I will be donating 100% of the money raised to Variety, to help them reach their goal of $75,000 to offset the expenses, as well as help them continue to make new bikes for kids in need. Wont you join me in my pursuit of helping to not only build a bike for a child in need, but also building freedom for them as well? With your help we will be one step closer to putting smiles-for-miles on those deserving little faces. Every child deserves to ride a bike.
