Help Alex Beat Cancer!

Short version: My name is Lexi, I am a 21 year old part time student and full time volunteer. My dad, Alex was diagnosed with stage IV non Hodgkin's lymphoma in late 2015, though he mentioned to his doctor the possibility of him having cancer, she dismissed him. After six rounds of chemotherapy, we've learned that it has not worked. Now, we are looking for alternative ways to cure his cancer and hope to send him out of the country to receive specialized care. These alternative treatments must be paid out of pocket. My father takes care of my disabled mother and his elderly mother who has dementia. I hope you can help, thank you!

Long version:
Hello!

My name is Lexi. This campaign is for my father, Alex. He has been diagnosed with stage IV non Hodgkin's lymphoma.

We are looking for non traditional treatment, as chemotherapy has failed, and we are in a very difficult situation.

In 2007 my mother suffered an aneurysm and a hemorrhagic stroke. After six months in the hospital she was able to come home. However, she was/is unable to work, has paraplegia, global aphasia. As a result she needs 24 hour care and her situation will not improve. My dad had to leave a high paying career to take care of her and us, barely scraping by.

At that time my father took on the roles of mother and father in caring for myself and my younger sister. We were at the time 8 and 12.

About 6 years ago my father started becoming symptomatic [for lymphoma] and brought this up to his doctors attention. Sick, and unable to do the things he used to, my parents lost their house of 20 years. And I was diagnosed with MS and Lupus and couldn't do as much as I wanted to help.

My father mentioned to his Dr. that he could have cancer, as his father, his uncle's, and his grandfather's from both sides, all died of cancer. In addition to these things over the past 5 years, he more recently lost about 40 lbs with no reasonable explanation. This entire time his doctor dismissed these things as side affects of his diabetes.

This past year he insisted that he have an ultrasound of the affected areas, in particular the abdomen where he was experiencing much pain.

That's when he was diagnosed with stage IV non Hodgkin's lymphoma. After six months of chemotherapy we have learned that is not working. And our options are limited. We are not wealthy, by any means. But we need our father around. He has been the best father anyone could've ever asked for, and the best husband for my mother. The only thing that has kept us sane is our faith in God, and that one day things will be better.

My father has been selfless through all the things we've gone through. Constantly and consistently looking to help others through their trials based on his many life experiences. Both my parents tirelessly engaged in many forms of volunteer work to help those in their communities.

My parents anniversary is coming up on May 28th. For their anniversary this year, I would love to give them options. Options of where he can receive alternative, effective cancer treatment.

I hope you can help.

Thank you.
