Hi, everyone! We are the close friends and family of Cody & Jessica Ennis.

Cody was involved in a head-on-collision on July 2nd. Initially, the officers reported that Cody was fine, just had lots of bumps and bruises. He was transported to Baylor Dallas following the accident. Upon his arrival to the hospital the medical team found that his injuries were far more severe than what they initially thought. Cody was found to have a tear in the aorta of his heart and was rushed to emergency surgery for repair. Following that surgery, he was admitted to the Trauma ICU. Once he was a little more stabilized, he went into another surgery where his spleen was removed due to injury. Cody will go for another exploratory surgery to assess the repair to his aorta and to confirm that there are no further injuries/ bleeding. Cody also has a broken hip, so he will eventually have another surgery to repair that. At this time, Cody is in critical but stable condition. Thankfully Jessica & Amelia were able to see him in the ER to pray over him and give their love before he went into surgery. He has been intubated since.

UPDATE:
Yesterday; was one month since the accident.

The Lord has brought Cody a long way from where he was.

Multiple doctors have said that it was a miracle that he even made it to the hospital, with the tear in his aorta. He had emergency surgery that night to repair that. And another emergency surgery later that night, in which his spleen was removed. Another surgery the next day to ensure all was good. Another surgery two days later, to repair one of the two breaks in his neck. He now has a plate and screws that will have to be removed later so that he will have mobility in his neck. He is in a c-collar still, with hopes that the other break will heal on its own. However, he may need surgery down the road to fix that.

His right hip was broken and dislocated. The doctors were unable to operate on it at the time because of the other injuries. His leg was in traction until this past Tuesday, when the unexpected decision to take out the traction was made, for reasons that we have yet to get an answer for. It was supposed to have been for 12 weeks. Hopefully we'll have answers tomorrow. At this point, Cody will need to have a hip replacement sometime later.

Within hours of the traction removal, Cody began having issues breathing. That night he was rushed into surgery to remove substantial clotting from his lungs.

There are still clots in his legs; so Friday morning, a filter was placed in his heart to prevent any from entering there. He is on a blood thinner, hoping his body will be able to break down those remaining.

Among the "minor" injuries are fractured ribs, a fractured left wrist, and a number of lacerations and bruises.

He will be going into a rehab hospital upon his release from Baylor.

He still has a road ahead, but we know that God is with him and He will bring Cody through this; and he will have an awesome testimony.

Cody, Jessica, Amelia & Bobby still have a very long road ahead of them. Along with love and prayers, we would like to show them support financially as well, during this very tough time. We ask that if you are able and feel led, to please contribute. Every dollar will help, along with every prayer.

Thank you all! ❤️
