Wow. Thea received her new liver after a 12 hour operation on Monday 7 August 2023.
Whilst we are all so very grateful for this amazing opportunity of the gift of life, we are all fully aware of the grief of another family. Our hearts go out to them however if given the opportunity we would share with them how grateful we are and what extraordinary opportunities you have provided for a very special little girl and her family.

Thea still has a significant amount of medications administered and is learning to speak and other things many parents take for granted. She is providing many firsts and smiles.

This family takes nothing for granted and are so unbelievably grateful for everything.
Whilst Thea and Mia were in Melbourne for the operation someone recklessly torched Mia's car out the front of their home (along with another car further along). So many set backs however each day is filled with new opportunities and options.

Thea can't attend child care as she has compromised immune system, which means in this current economic climate the family struggle with little options to improve the finances relying on one wage.

We celebrate the families first Christmas in three years away from the hospital and being all together, they are so excited.

Thank you to everyone who has been so generous and assisted this family.

A quick update. July 2023

Thea is still waiting for her Liver and Aorta transplant.

Currently, the family is trying to raise the awareness of organ donation and the incredible importance of being registered with Medicare. We need people to share their choice of donation with their families.

This family still struggles financially as Mia can't work due to providing 24/7 hour intensive care to Thea and William. Brett is working hard to provide balance with the current financial constraints. It's really tough watching your baby daughters health deteriorate.
Mia's daily mantra is that each new day provides new opportunities, possibilities, and choices. Her positivity is inspiring. Thea's determination is incredible.

PLEASE share this families story.

Thea was born on 13 May 2021, six weeks early.

Unfortunately, Thea was taken into surgery within 24 hours of her birth and has required multiple surgeries, and lengthy stays in the Intensive Care Unit at the Adelaide Women's and Children's hospital.

Her parents, Brett and Mia, have been by her side constantly throughout her stay. They travel approximately 32 kilometres each way every day, often in two cars to meet the other demands of family life.

Thea's presence lights up your heart, as proven by the team of specialists who have been caring for her went on to organise a colourful farewell (balloons, streamers and a special cake) when the family were finally allowed to take Thea home after her first 324 days of life.
Thea is one of the happiest, loving, strong, determined babies you would ever have the opportunity to meet, even though daily there is extensive medical intervention.

Thea's older brother William (10 years old) has been unable to spend much time with the family due to the criticality of Thea's conditions and covid restrictions, not allowing visitors, this includes family.
This has been a huge emotional cost for the family.

The toll of the criticality and uncertainty of Thea's medical outcome has been enormous.

Unfortunately, Thea was only home for 34 days and was rushed back to hospital, more surgery, more uncertainty, more needles and was subjected to multiple infections.

On Monday 23 May 2022, Thea along with her mother Mia, was airlifted to the Melbourne Children's hospital to have life-saving assessments from the top specialists in Australia. Brett flew separately to meet them in Melbourne the same day.

This has required more expenses, unimaginable stress and being detached from William, the family and other emotional supports.

The extensive medical treatment will be ongoing, with multiple surgeries scheduled and intrusive testing.
So how does a young family survive, emotionally and financially when they can't work as their highest priority is their children, especially a very sick baby who smiles and giggles and warms their hearts which provides them with HOPE.

I am one of the grandmothers, I'm Nanna in fact, and I'm asking, whoever would like to help this family, please do it via this site.
Every cent donated will go directly to the family.

It takes a village to raise a child and this beautiful baby girl and her dedicated family need us.

They have never asked for assistance, please show them community spirit and kindness.

Please note if you make a donation at the bottom of that screen you can leave a message for the family.
