Help Support Soodi's Journey to Restart
Donation protected
Hi loved ones, our family is together in Los Angeles, and we are all safe from the Palisades and surrounding fires. We are still processing the tragedy of the last few days and trying to get settled into this new reality. Our mom, Soodi, lived in Pacific Palisades Bowl, which was a small mobile home community filled with lots of neighborhood love. She lived in her beautiful corner home for over 25 years and turned it into her work studio for the last 8 years (we are all going to miss those ocean-view hair services). Her entire community and the neighboring mobile home park, Tahitian Terrace, were destroyed in the Palisades fire. Most of the residents in these communities were elderly, low-income, or retired and were so grateful to be living in a prime location at an affordable price. Everyone cherished their tiny homes in Pacific Palisades--the gem of Los Angeles.
Since the Palisades fire moved so fast and our mom was alone, she only had time to grab essential items. She had to leave behind her most sentimental and cherished belongings. Her hairdressing tools, products, and means of making a living were all left behind as well. Sadly, it all burned to the ground.
Our mom has rebuilt her life many times on her own, but this tragedy has taken her hope with it.
A little bit about our Soodi: hiking was part of her well-being. She would hike 2-3 times per week with the Sierra Hiking Club in the Pacific Palisades and surrounding areas. This critical component of her life in these beautiful hills has been lost. Our mother is incredibly giving and helpful by nature; she volunteers at a spiritual center and always sets aside a small amount of funds to help those in need. She regularly feeds neighbors and friends and hosts loved ones in her humble, warm, and inviting home. For someone as giving as Soodi, not having a home to serve others (what she does best) is an enormous loss. Soodi’s whole life was in her ~700 sf home. She didn’t have much room for herself, but she always made anyone who stepped foot in her home feel like it was theirs. Her home was open for all to enjoy.
To everyone who has kindly reached out asking how you can help, I would deeply appreciate it if you could consider donating to our fund. It is not in our nature or culture to ask for financial help, so creating a GoFundMe is a tough ask. We just know that the expenses involved in rebuilding her life and everything she's lost will be overwhelming and unforeseen. Making this GoFundMe is a decision we made as her children on her behalf. We want her to feel the support of all those who love her and have been loved by her. We are unable to rebuild because our mom did not have mobile home insurance (like many others in the community due to the high cost).
Soodi has been known to make the most of very little—any contribution of any size will go a long way and have a meaningful impact.
All of this will help Soodi get closer to hosting and feeding all her loved ones again :) and making each of us feel and look our most beautiful.
Thank you all for your love, messages, prayers, thoughts, hope, and generosity.
We will recover Super Soodi together!!
We love you all so much <3
1/17/25: Hi everyone, we learned that a GoFundMe was created for our mom's community, the Palisades Bowl mobile home park. Similar to our mom, many who lived in the community were uninsured (due to the high cost of insuring older mobile homes) and unable to recover on their own. Our GoFundMe has raised more than enough for our mom; she asks that if you would like to donate, please consider helping her community. Donations will be divided to those who need it most to help cover temporary housing and basic necessities:

The neighboring mobile home park, Tahitian Terrace, has a GoFundMe as well that is managed by Barbara Corcoran (one of the Shark Tank judges). Their fundraiser has gained a lot of traction and we are so happy about the network of support they have rallied. The link to their fundraiser is below if you'd like more info:
