Let’s support Krista
Hey everyone! As most of you know my sister Krista Elzey was in a bad car accident on 4/21/21. A gentleman failed to yield while turning and turned In front of her and she was unable to stop. This resulted in her tibia and fibula being broken, her hip, a pretty large laceration on her liver and some broken ribs. They also found some blood by her pelvic area and around the liver. She was taken to Vidant Beaufort where she received X-rays and they realized the extent of her injuries and transferred her to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville via helicopter. Once she got to VMC she under went a short surgery to get her through the night. The next morning 4/22 around 7am she was taken back to the OR where they spent about 7 hours on her placing pins and screws in her hip as well as her tibia and fibula. Her wounds are wrapped but currently open. She has a wound vac with two drainage tubes placed, one in her hip and the other in her leg. As of right now everything is looking good so hopefully with in a couple days she will be taken back to the OR to clean everything really well and hopefully close them up. The laceration on her liver is being monitored as of right now. We are hoping no surgery will be required. As of right now they are saying she will not be able to bear any weight on her right leg for around 3 months and of course with time will require some extensive physical therapy. Krista is a single Mom of two precious kids. She works as a vet tech but will be out for an unknown amount of time. Krista is the type to give you the shirt off of her back without having another to put on. She tries her best to do anything she can for others so let’s pull together and help her get through this. Just because she was in an accident the bills don’t stop coming and the stress of being a Mom doesn’t stop. Her car is totaled so along with everything else once she’s back to “normal” she will be looking for a vehicle to drive as well. Please consider donating to my sister and her precious kids and if you can’t that is also understandable but please lift her up in prayer as she has an extremely long road to recovery.
Thank you!
