Just days before Valentine’s Day, a family’s world was turned upside down.

Angie is a devoted mother who has been doing everything she was asked to do while navigating her immigration process. For months, she faithfully attended her required check-ins with the ISAP program, reporting every other month as instructed.

On February 11, Angie went to what she believed would be another routine appointment. Instead, she was suddenly detained.

Angie is the mother of a 17-year-old daughter who attends High School in Silver Spring. In a moment, her daughter’s life changed. At an age when she should be focused on school, friends, and planning her future, she is now facing the painful reality of being separated from her mother.

What should have been a time filled with love and celebration around Valentine’s Day instead became a time of fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak for this family.

Angie has always worked hard to provide for her daughter and to follow every requirement asked of her. Her unexpected detention has left her daughter and loved ones struggling to navigate an incredibly difficult and uncertain situation.

A solo unos días del Día del Amor y la Amistad, la vida de una familia cambió por completo.

Angie es una madre dedicada que ha estado haciendo todo lo que se le ha pedido mientras enfrenta su proceso migratorio. Durante meses, asistió fielmente a sus chequeos requeridos con el programa ISAP, presentándose un mes de por medio como se le indicaba.

El 11 de febrero, Angie acudió a lo que pensó sería otra cita de rutina. En lugar de eso, fue detenida inesperadamente.
