Hi, my name is Alli Brown, and I am creating this GoFundMe for my friends, the Oertel family, Eliana, Derek, and their beautiful daughter, Mila.

In July 2024, Mila was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After surgery, therapy and a tremendous amount of hard work, she recovered and was tumor-free for almost a year. Unfortunately, the tumor has returned, and Mila underwent another surgery this December.

Eliana and Derek are a kind, loving and generous family. Both are dedicated teachers who pour so much into their students. They have taken significant time off to be by Mila’s side as she recovers from this latest surgery.

As part of the Katonah Playcare and Bedford Village communities, we want to stand beside them and support them in any way we can. Our hope is that this GoFundMe will help ease the financial strain they’re facing and allow them to focus fully on healing together as a family.
