This past week we suddenly lost a friend, father, husband and supporter in Ron Goodrow. Ron was part of so many corners of his community and one of them was the horse world. He was a mainstay at Zephyr Farm and a driving force behind his youngest daughter’s equitation dreams.
Ron and Denise have three beautiful daughters. Their youngest, Maddie, is preparing right now for indoor equitation finals. Every year at finals her parents are the fire behind her competing. They ship her horses, spend the week grooming, mucking and caring for the horses, and stand by her for every early morning hack and late night lesson.
This year’s indoor season will look very different for Maddie and her mom . We are hoping to come together to take as much of the financial burden of showing at three equitation finals off their shoulders as possible. We know this time of year is a stretch for so many of us with travel, hotels, entries and all the pieces it takes to get our horses and riders to finals safely. If there is any bit left to give, we ask that we join forces to stand in Ron’s place this year. Let’s make sure his daughter is at the ring showing without worry, just the way he always made possible.
