Our dear friends The Gaffneys, have had one heck of a year!
Kary, Sara, London (10), and Izzy (8) are an incredibly special family. Sara is a devoted teacher who is absolutely beloved by her past and present students and their families, while Kary has built his own business as a stylist, always making the time to accommodate his loyal clients. To know this family, is to love this family- with their big smiles and even bigger hearts.
Over the holidays Sara was diagnosed with breast cancer, and almost immediately began hormone therapy followed by invasive surgery. Sara stepped away from her teaching temporarily, while Kary put his clients on hold to help his wife through recovery and take care of the kids, pets, and household.
A few weeks into Sara’s recovery, infection set in and back to the hospital she went. What they’d hoped would be a smooth recovery, now included several painful procedures and unplanned surgeries. To compound the bad news, Sara tested positive for Covid-19 while in the hospital. Once back home, Sara had to quarantine herself in one part of their house while Kary and the kids remained in the other. Obviously, these medical setbacks mean neither of them has been able to return to work.
So many family, friends, and community members have sent messages and gifts of love and support for the Gaffneys. They didn’t plan on having this much time away from work, and the increased amount of medical procedures and surgeries has left them in an incredibly stressful situation. Although Sara and Kary are far too humble to ask for financial help, I’m setting up this link for those who may want to offer up a few dollars to help alleviate some of that stress they’re feeling. Even the smallest donation will help them to worry a little less about finances, and focus more on their family, and Sara’s health and road to recovery.
