Let's Show Marla some Love! F cancer!

Donation protected
Hi Everyone! Allison here. It's been awhile. Like a couple of years. And in that time Marla has been continually battling both cancer and the insurance companies and the medical industry together. I want to give her the peace of mind to pay off some debt, pay for continual care and try new methods of fighting cancer. Let's do it!

First of all Marla and Paul and BEYOND grateful for all of the support shown them thus far. Of course the monetary help but also the emotional support.. the check ins, the shared experiences and so much more. This community and beyond! They are going on year 4 so you can imagine every little bit helps in every way.

Here is an update and also where the donations will go:

After Marla's 3rd reoccurrence of cervical cancer she completed 3 months of chemotherapy and is now in treatment with an immunotherapy drug, Keytruda, which she will be on indefinitely. (All the while working the entire time both because she needs to, wants to and that is what keeps her insurance going).

On the days of treatment Marla travels for 6 hours. Sometimes she needs to stay the night due to time of appt, weather or simply being exhausted. She is still not in remission for the cervical cancer.

But... the breast cancer is under control!!! Healing continues after the mastectomy and the multiple complications that followed. She will have a follow up with her surgeon in March.

As you can imagine the bills are piling up and they are having a hard time keeping up. Marla's insurer, United Healthcare (yes lets' call them out) is not covering essentials. For example they just received a bill for her reoccurrence diagnosis for $10,000. She is currently paying $3,000 a month for insurance and still gets denied treatment regularly which she then has to dispute.

In true warrior spirit Marla has found a treatment that will help kill the virus that feeds the cervical cancer. Of course insurance does not cover it. If she is approved she would need 6 treatments a year. SOT (Supportive Oligonucleotide Therapy) is a personalized IV therapy treatment for cancer or viral infections that combines a patient's cancer or viral cells with their immune-signaling cells. This stimulates the immune system to attack either cancer tumor cells or viral infections.

Just reading this is a lot. Can you imagine going through it? That's why I am humbly asking everyone to chip in and let's try and alleviate any burden that we can. We can't fight the cancer for her but we can support her while she does!!!
