“walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light."

our sweet, kind, beautiful friend Lisa was diagosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer (doctors found a cancerous tumor in her colon with possible involvement of the uterus) February 21, 2020, just two days before her 49th birthday. March of 2020 was made even scarier for her, as she began 9 grueling treatments of chemotherapy right as the world went into shutdown with the pandemic. After completion of her treatments, the doctor’s had her immediately follow with 6 weeks of radiation and in December of 2020, tumor removal surgery was performed, along with removal of some lymph nodes, a hysterectomy, and an ostomy bag so her body could heal.

During the middle of this - she was laid off from her career of 20+ years, which added a bit of panic in the middle of the scariest time in her life.

Surgery + recovery went well, however a few months after her surgery, routine lab work showed her tumor marker was going up.  Lisa's oncologist scheduled  a CT and Petscan , that showed cancer was back + it had metastasized to her liver + lung which brought her diagnosis to stage 4.

She began round two of chemotherapy in March of 2021, one year after being diagnosed.  After 6 treatments, complications with her kidney came to light, which resulted in her spending almost two weeks in the hospital being treated for Acute Kidney failure. Fluids + some needed rest helped her to recover, and chemo started again in August of 2021, with a lower dose to ease her body back into it after the kidney scare. 

As of today, her body is still fighting hard to kick cancer’s ass. Her tumor marker has fluctuated, and her latest visit indicated the chemo needs to continue so the cancer doesn’t spread more, which makes it imperative that her friends, family + loved ones come together to show our support and love for our amazing friend, Lisa. She needs us.

These funds raised, with your love and help, are going to allow her to seek treatment in methods less common, allow her precious time + memories with her boys, and take ease off having to think about things like bills, food + stuff that could keep her from healing.
