We just wanted to give an update on Lindsays journey and Thank you all for the continued love and support. Your prayers have been felt by Lindsay and her family.
Lindsay’s second surgery went great and the new margins were clear of any new cancer. She has been home recovering well and is looking forward to starting the next steps.
The plan moving forward to treat her aggressive breast cancer will be a newer clinical trial using a combination of targeted drug therapy and hormone therapy.
The doctors are hopeful this treatment route will halt the reoccurrence of any aggressive tumor growth to other parts of the body.
We are still fighting this battle and are prayerfully optimistic for the best outcome.
Anyone who knows Lindsay knows what a kind, caring, and loving person she is. We were all so shocked and saddened to find out that a lump she detected on her own turned out to be two masses of cancer in her left breast, requiring surgery. After searching for a doctor she trusted, she found one at City of Hope, and they scheduled her for a mastectomy on her left breast for September 3rd.
The surgery went well, and as a precaution, they also removed her lymph nodes to biopsy and ensure the cancer hadn’t spread. She’s been recovering well at home with the help of her husband Billy, daughter Jordyn, and mom, who are taking very good care of her.
A week after the surgery, she received her biopsy results. The good news is that the cancer didn’t spread to her lymph nodes. However, the not-so-good news is that the tumor had grown and spread to two other locations that tested positive for invasive cancer, with less clear margins than the doctor observed in the original MRI. The doctor is almost certain they got all of it, but he worries that, given the new invasive cancer findings in the final pathology report, there could be tiny cancer cells that were missed due to the tumor growth. Therefore, she needs to undergo another surgery. They will go in to scrape more of the skin to be 100% certain all cells are gone, and this is scheduled for October 1st.
As most of you know, Lindsay is a very busy hairdresser at Latitude and can’t wait to be back behind the chair doing what she loves with the people she enjoys. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know exactly when she’ll be able to return to the salon. Many of her friends and community members have asked how they can help, so I’ve set this up for anyone who wants to support her during this difficult time.
