On April 22nd, 2021, They took the weekend off to travel. They headed to South Lake Tahoe for just the night.. They had such a great day and night that they didn't want to leave that morning, so they purchased another night, and continued the amazing vacation.
On April 24th they left South Lake Tahoe around 11am, prepared for a 2ish hour drive back home to Sacramento. But at 12:00pm they got into a terrible car crash.
They were traveling on highway 50 going the pretty fast speed limit of 55mph when an SUV turned out from a suicide lane in front of them. Brandon saw it coming and because he knew he wouldn't stop in time, he swerved to the right to avoid the SUV, but it was too late. They hit the SUV full speed and then spun an unknown amount of times to the opposite side of the freeway, hitting a fence and coming to a stop. This was near Sierra Blanca Drive in Camino.
Heather was able to open my door from the inside and get out on her own. Brandon however was trapped by the frame and had to be cut out with the jaws of life. After cutting him out, they discovered he was unable to move his legs and arm.
They rushed them both to Marshall Medical Center near Placerville, later discharging Heather with just cuts, bad bruises, and stomach swelling from the seatbelt.
They transfered Brandon to UC Davis in Sacramento because he had broken his left pelvis and his wrist, and needed to talk to the surgical team.
They admitted Brandon into UC Davis on April 24th, 2021.
On April 25th Heather went into the Emergency Room at UC Davis for new neasea and stomach pain. After scans, treatment, medication and an overnight stay, she was discharged with full body whiplash.
After more scans and treatment at UC Davis, on April 26th, 2021 Brandon underwent approximately 8-10 hours of surgery for his pelvis. While in surgery, they discovered the damage was more than just in his left pelvis. Both of his hips had been dislocated and his pelvis on the left side broken. They fixed all of that with screws, rods and metal plates.
It is now April 28th, 2021 and Brandon had a 2 hour surgery on his right wrist at approximately 8:30am. He was in recovery for about 3 hours before he was awake and stable. They put his bone back in place with screws, rods and plates.
Brandon is still unable to move his legs much, and will not be able to bear any weight on either of his legs, or stand up for 6-8 weeks. He will be in a wheelchair most likely for months after being discharged
He has to stay at UC Davis for at least a week to do physical therapy. After that they are recommending him to be admitted to a rehabilitation facility so that they can help him learn how to function safely with his injuries. He may never walk properly again.
They both worked so hard to buy this car and they put thousands of dollars in repairs and upgrades in it. They didn't expect or plan any of this and I know we can all come together to help them get back up financially. They've already had to pay out of pocket expenses and aren't sure whats to come.
Thank God and our ANGELS for watching over them!!!
NOW LETS SHOW THEM WHAT FAMILY REALLY IS!!!!!
