"Let's Share God's Unconditional Love With Chico"

Who this will help?
Our prayer and hope is that all who know and who don't know our dad will band together to show God's Love in an incredible way to assist and journey with our Dad "Chico" through his road to recovery from kidney failure.

We are Alex, Vanessa and Ashley Pacheco who's prayer and hope is to see our Dad in healthier and better circumstances. Currently Dad is on a road to recovery from kidney failure and our prayer is that his kidney's begin to function with the current hope leaning towards no dialysis and this is looking very hopeful.

Dad has always been the type of man to give the shirt off his own back. He is always the one to put others before himself even if it means if he has to suffer for the sake of someone else's happiness.

Dad is not one to complain about misfortunes, trials and/or his struggles. He is always there to help one financially even when he doesn't have it and even when he himself is struggling with his own financial turmoil.

Dad would always tell us to give out of love from our heart to others and the wanting to help should never feel forced. He was always leading by example by giving of himself to serve others because he would always tell us that he sees Christ in everybody and I mean everybody!

Our dad is not quick to judge someone or criticize their lifestyle. He is always ready to share God's Love with others no matter what. In fact I know that if this fundraiser was for any one of us he would first ask what hospital were we admitted in and rush right over to pray over us and of course within a heart beat donate to help his brother and sister in Christ. The crazy thing is that he would do this for complete strangers and would donate whatever he had for someone he didn't even know.

Dad has showed us a lot about God's Unconditional Love. Meaning a love with no conditions tied to it. Meaning a Love where you should never expect anything back. My dad has taught us a lot about Loving others and doing things for others because you see Christ in them not because you expect something in return.

We live in a world of conditional love. I will love you only if you give me money when I need it or I will love you only if you pay me back what I did for you or I will love you only if you change your lifestyle and become a better person.

Dad has taught us that God's Love is not bounded by the rules of this world. God's Love is unlimited and everlasting and nothing can stop God from loving even the greatest sinner. God's Love is not bounded to conditions but is given to us unconditionally and God never expects anything back from us. So Dad lives by this rule daily. Our prayer and hope is that you too may be inspired to do the same for others.

How will the donations raise aid for Dad "Chico"?
  • Dad currently has no financial income to pay his monthly bills due to his inability to work due to his unknown physical recovery to outpatient status.
  • Providing Financial Stability for Dad "Chico" while we help dad get back on the right track with all his personal affairs such as SSI, filing for disability, Medicare and enrolling Dad "Chico" into VA Medical Benefits and Programs that can assist Dad from this point on and so that our family is able to provide the best care in the future for Dad "Chico" through these various programs.

Why does Dad "Chico" need your help?
Any donation that you give will go to Dad "Chico" and allow us to restore our Dad's "Chico's" life physically and financially. This will allow Dad to return back to some normalcy and in which will give Dad reassurance and confidence in his kidney recovery without the worry for the need to work and retire. This will allow Dad "Chico" to just rest while the donations aid him in this recovery.

How Dad "Chico" and the family arrived to this unfortunate medical mishaps?
Since Dad has been Hospitalized for over 2 weeks it all began with a trip to the ER. Dad "Chico" had experienced a month prior to the episode some vomiting and fever which would later spiral his health in a very severe medical state and end him up in the hospital.

Not thinking much of it Dad "Chico would see the following as a cold or flu like symptoms. He would proceed to take NyQuil as a remedy for the issue.

The same thing would happen a second time but this time the vomiting and chills would not reside. He would end up in the ER thinking nothing of it. Dad "Chico" kept telling us he thought it could be a cold or flu.

Dad " Chico" would remain in the ER for more than 18 hours with no antibiotics administered followed by a series of questions about health history and more.

Before being admitted into the MICU they would do a series of CT Scans and tests to narrow down the findings to Pancreatitis and Colonitis. He would be admitted 19 hours from the time he arrived to the ER into the VA MICU where they would begin to administer the needed treatment to slow down the sepsis and infection that was in Dad's "Chico's" blood which would be the cause of major complication post the ERCP biliary stent procedure due to the blockage of a bowel duct into the pancreas.

Dad "Chico" would await another transfer due to the previous transfer being cancelled by the staff in the ER at the VA.

Finally a transfer after the second attempt would be approved and processed for Dad "Chico" to be moved over to University Hospital where he would be intubated during the first ERCP biliary stent procedure.

Dad "Chico" remained intubated due to the lack of independent breathing. Dad's organs in his body began to shutdown and his kidney began to decline in health and fail due to septic shock.

He would then be asked to be placed on dialysis due to kidney failure post the ERCP Biliary Stent Procedure. Dad's "Chico" vitals would slowly stabilize at the University Hospital and within 24 hours later he would then be transferred from the University Hospital back to the VA where he would remain off of dialysis.

Dad "Chico" would begin to retain fluids and begin to swell while the VA would discuss about a day and half whether to keep him at the VA or transfer him to BAMC's the original choice at the beginning of discussing their transfers when he was in the ER. The medical team would do another series of test on Dad "Chico" and a 3D CT Scan to better understand the severity of his condition.

Here they would find a severe infection in the Gallbladder due to several gallstones. Dad "Chico" at BAMC would under go a Percutaneous Cholecystectomy Drain procedure where here they would place him back on and continue his dialysis to assist his body with removing any metabolic waste and fluid from his body while cleaning his blood. The medical team was striving to get his kidney numbers to a functioning state.

After Dad's "Chico's" arrival to BAMC it has been nothing but miracle after miracle after miracle. All the goals that the medical teams were looking to meet were being met. All I can say that the following was all Divine Providence. God and his power is why Dad "Chico" is still here. Prayers from friends and family go along way but we need still need the help of his family, friends and his parish/church community to assist Dad "Chico" in this recovery financially.
