Let´s Save Water With Me

WHAT IS MY PROJECT

Do you know why environmental policy works in certain countries but not in others? It turns out that if we involve people in the makings of environmental policy, it is more likely to work. This is even more important in times of climate change. And one of the vital resources we need to protect is WATER.

Currently, climate change and water shortage become one of the most important topics. But in Africa and Middle East region, 65 % of countries deals with an absolute water scarcity. Behind these figures, yet, there are real human stories that I have had the opportunity to get to know.  This is why people´s experience should be interconnected with the scientific knowledge. Let's give them a chance to get involved. #letsavewater with me.

I am a PhD student at the University of Reading and my project deals with water in the biggest country in Africa. Algeria. The aim of my research is to find out why existing solutions do not work and how they can be solved. I will conduct interviews with locals and interconnect their experience with scientific knowledge. But to do so, I NEED YOUR HELP.

As a full-time student from EU, my options for educational grants are very limited. Yet, I have got my tuition fee and maintenance funded, but I need you to help me get extra £6,035 to save water.

BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER. Water does not know borders. Saving water in Algeria is saving water in Africa.

WHO AM I & MY STORY

My name is Selma and I was born in Africa. When I was a little child a war started in my country of origin and my parents became political refugees. They fled with me to Europe, but we have kept returning to Algeria every year for summer holidays. I have many memories of these times, but one has always determined my direction of life. WATER. I remember how precious water was and how we danced every time it rained while in Europe drinking water was used to flush toilets. I asked myself: how is it possible that there are so different worlds on one planet? And can I do something about it?

I come from a developing country but grew up in Europe.  Now I want to be beneficial to the society and share the blessing that I was lucky to have with those who need it. JOIN ME AND LET´S SAVE WATER WITH ME. Donate or share my project, please.
