Lets Rewrite the Story of Berry Creek

While a lot has been written and said about the devastating wildfires in California, it is heartbreaking to know that only little has been done to help these victims reclaim their lives as they struggle to pick up the pieces of what's left of a life they used to know.
Just like you and I, the people of Berry Creek had plans for their future. They Celebrated the new year and stood by front line workers in various parts of the world as the world unified to fight the current pandemic.
Right now, they stand alone, shattered from the painful effects of the Wildfire - A nightmare that seems to have no end.
Berry Creek used to be an exciting place to visit. At some time in history, it was a gold mining camp. This community used to be a choice location for people who were planning a getaway for their vacation. Now, Berry Creek is nothing!
Three weeks ago, everything the fantastic people of Berry Creek ever knew was swept off by the Wildfire. Their homes, schools, playgrounds, fire station, grocery stores… everything! Although much has been said, nothing tangible has been done towards supporting these victims on their path to recovery.
Upon learning that one of our The Body Shop at Home team members was directly involved, Sorah Shain and I knew we had to do something. Our partner Karen's sister Laura's entire property burnt down, with her beloved 3 cats and 30K+ of surrounding acres of forest along with 15 human lives. With a dedicated team of frontline workers, the Oroville Hope Center and The Body Shop at Home, we have decided to help restore the glory of Berry Creek, one inhabitant at a time - starting with Laura.

After viewing videos of Laura's last on-site assessment, we saw first-hand the destruction caused by the fire and the left wreckage. We also had a series of in-depth conversations with her and her community to know what they urgently need and how best to help them.
My team and I are not oblivious to the recent events that have sent the world in a downward spiral, the struggles against Covid-19, and the job losses many of us have suffered. Unfortunately, for every little that we have left, the people in Berry Creek have nothing.
Through this campaign, we want to stand in solidarity with the people of Berry Creek. We want to help them stay fed, clean and healthy and rebuild their lives one piece at a time, no matter how long it takes.
To achieve our aim, we are looking to raise as much money as possible to kickstart the recovery operations.
Some of the items we will purchase with your donations will include baby supplies, groceries, relief kits, toiletries and so much more.
We aim to make sure that Berry Creek residents receive all the help they can, right now, before they are forgotten. With the elections right at the corner, It may be hard for anyone to remember these beautiful people when they are no longer in the news headlines.
100% of all donations received will be accounted for and wholly put into the Berry Creek recovery project. We will also keep our donors updated with progress reports through this campaign page and our social media handles.
