LET'S REDUCE PERIOD POVERTY
Donation protected
No girl should have to choose between dignity and necessity.
In Nigeria, millions of girls start their periods without access to proper sanitary products. I've seen it firsthand - some forced to stretch a single pad for hours because there is simply no alternative. The impact is heartbreaking.
Not changing pads regularly can lead to several health and hygiene issues, including:
1. Bad Odor – Menstrual blood, when exposed to air for a long time, can produce an unpleasant smell due to bacterial growth. This is a very common experience and has an impact on their confidence.
2. Bacterial Infections – Prolonged use of a pad creates a warm, moist environment where bacteria can thrive, increasing the risk of infections like bacterial vaginosis or urinary tract infections (UTIs).
3. Skin Irritation & Rashes – The dampness and friction from a soiled pad can cause itching, rashes, and even sores on the skin.
4. Leakage & Discomfort – A full pad may overflow, causing stains on clothes and discomfort while moving or sitting. A regular occurrence many of them have to live with and in some cases avoid going to school.
To maintain good menstrual hygiene, it’s recommended to change pads every 4 to 6 hours, or more frequently if the flow is heavy. This can't be achieved without a regular supply of sanitary products.
I'm Temi and through 'Dignified by Grace' Outreach, we are on a mission to change this - providing essential sanitary products to girls in high schools as far as we can go. Because no girl should miss school or suffer in silence due to something so natural.
Your support can make a real difference. Join me in raising funds to restore dignity and confidence to these young girls. Every contribution, big or small, helps us take one step closer to stop period poverty.
Donate today and be part of the change we want to see.
2023 was our first outreach. We want to extend it further in 2025 by providing enough sanitary products for the summer holidays and back to school.
