Let's Refurbish the Colchester Schoolhouse
Hello, We are Heritage Colchester,
a group of residents of Colchester who have taken the first steps to save and restore the Old Schoolhouse with the formation of a Not-for-Profit Corporation known as Heritage Colchester through affiliation with the Ontario Historical Society. The Town of Essex has now given our group an opportunity to restore the 1881 schoolhouse at 195 Bagot Street in Colchester, Ontario. The process of designating the property as being of cultural heritage value or interest under the provisions of the Ontario Heritage Act has been completed.
We know that the schoolhouse has significant heritage value to the residents, historians and visitors to our town, and we are grateful to those who have helped us get this far.
Heritage Colchester is now asking for your financial support to begin the restoration process. We are very excited to begin the process of securing preservation professionals to perform a structural analysis, condition assessment and advice for a restoration plan.
Please help Heritage Colchester restore this historic gem for use as a Cultural, Historic, Education and Community Centre for the residents of Colchester Centre and the Town of Essex and surrounding area. We need and appreciate your help.
