Let’s Rebuild: Jamaica Strong
I am Roy T. Anderson, a Jamaican-born movie and TV stuntman and an award-winning documentary filmmaker. I was born in the district of Ridge Pen, St. Elizabeth. I now reside in New Jersey.
I have direct contact with families, individuals, and communities in the affected areas of St. Elizabeth who will benefit from this initiative.
About Let's Rebuild: Jamaica Strong
On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa pummeled Jamaica, leaving behind a trail of destruction. St. Elizabeth—known as the “bread basket of Jamaica”—was ground zero, suffering devastating floods and widespread damage to homes, farms, and infrastructure. The long road to recovery has just begun.
Spearheaded by Roy T. Anderson, alongside fellow filmmakers Jahsen Levy and Clinton Smith, “Let’s Rebuild: Jamaica Strong” is uniting the Jamaican film and creative community to bring IMMEDIATE aid directly to residents of the most affected areas. We’re raising funds to cover critical essentials - food, clean water, medical supplies, emergency home repairs, and temporary relocation for families in danger zones.
Every contribution, no matter how small, moves displaced families and individuals one step closer to safety and stability.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 USD to deliver emergency relief to St. Elizabeth’s hardest-hit remote communities and tell a story the world needs to see.
This is more than disaster relief - it’s an investment to empower local residents and build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities.
FAQs:
Why “Let’s Rebuild: Jamaica Strong”?
A. Our team is in DIRECT contact with families and individuals in the hardest-hit, remote communities. This enables us to identify urgent needs promptly and deliver assistance directly—without delay or red tape.
Q. What's unique about "Let's Rebuild: Jamaica Strong"?
A. This is an INDEPENDENT INITIATIVE of Jamaicans at home and in the diaspora who work in the film and TV industry.
What sets this campaign apart is that we’re documenting the journey. As film and TV professionals, we're capturing the resilience, courage, and communal spirit as Jamaicans rebuild their lives and communities.
Much like Spike Lee’s When the Levees Broke after Hurricane Katrina, the resulting limited-series documentary will air on a major streaming platform. It will give a global audience a firsthand look at the power of local recovery.
