Let's Rally for Callie!
Spende geschützt
Callie Hope Roberts is a former student of ours. She graduated from Indian Lake Central School in 2020 and from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2024. Callie recently began working in the Behavioral Health Unit at Glens Falls Hospital at a job she loves. Due to her illness, she has had to take an undetermined leave of absence.
A few weeks ago, Callie began having trouble with her eyes. She went to the eye doctor but was immediately referred to the ER, where she was admitted and treated for inflammation of the brain stem. Doctors thought it was likely that Callie was dealing with a highly treatable autoimmune disorder. After a few days, she was discharged and able to spend one night at home before having to return to the ER, be readmitted, and eventually transferred to Albany Medical Center, two hours from her home in Indian Lake. Multiple MRIs, spinal taps, and other tests still left doctors unclear until a radioactive MRI revealed a tumor on her brain stem. Callie was scheduled for a brain stem biopsy a few days later. While Callie and her family await more information from the biopsy, doctors are wasting no time in treating the tumor aggressively. She will begin radiation within the next few days while her team of doctors continue to develop the best course of treatment for a healthy outcome.
Please consider supporting Callie and her family as they focus on her health and healing during this incredibly challenging time. Her parents, Kate and Dale, are doing their best to make sure one or both of them are always by her side and will continue to do so throughout her treatment, requiring temporary/extended leave from work. Your generous donation will help ease the financial burden of travel, meals, and medical expenses tied to Callie’s treatment and recovery. Whether you’re able to give or simply share her story, your support means more than words can express.
