Showing the Love: Kevin Larson's cancer battle
KevLar is fighting the battle of his life. On July 26, he was told that he has Stage IV aggressive, invasive transitional cell bladder cancer that has spread to the prostate, lymph nodes, and several lesions on the spine. Kevin has been in unbearable pain in his legs and back for months. Since his diagnosis, he has received 5 radiation treatments to help relieve the pain by taking some pressure off of the nerve, which has helped tremendously. This week, he starts chemo with a capital “C.” They are bringing out the big guns, and Kevin's going to beat this! He is going to Northwestern for a second opinion, and is going to seek a treatment plan review from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, a top genitourinary cancer center. He is not going to give up hope and is exploring every treatment option and clinical trial.
Kevin is self-employed and has been unable to work since April. No work means a total loss of income. With the schedule of treatments he faces and his level of pain, he will be unable to do his craft of refinishing furniture and cabinetry for the unforeseeable future. He has a long road ahead of him.
Kevin is the best brother, uncle, son, and friend. He has always been the first one to help anyone anytime, give a ride, cook a meal, or make us all laugh with his sayings, or “Kevinisms.” His smoked turkey at Thanksgiving is always the first one gone. He has been there for my parents to fix things, move things, clean carpets, and more. For all he’s done for us, we’d like to be there for him. Many people have asked my Mom, my brothers, and myself what they can do to help. Your prayers and love have helped more than we can express.
With Kevin’s sudden loss of income and future costs he is facing, any donation would help take the worry off of his mind regarding his mounting expenses. Our faith, hope, and prayer is giving us strength.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We are all grateful for the friends who love him.
Any unused funds will be donated to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN), which has helped immensely in offering support, education, and navigating treatments and clinical trials.
