Let's PUMP Megan UP!
Donation protected
Megan is a fierce advocate and friend, devoted mom, a resilient fighter, and a Type 1 diabetic. She’s the friend that will give you the shirt off her back and come running when needed. At the core, this is Megan.
She is one of the toughest people I know, and will take up any fight for her friends but, right now, she’s fighting for her life. Her insulin pump finally crapped out just at the perfect time when she is in between jobs, needs $3k in dental work, and an $1800 car repair bill. Without the car she can’t get the job, without the job, she can’t get the pump, and without the pump, she might not wake up one day. She can fight just about anything but America’s healthcare system, she will need our help.
Her new setup is totaling $10,500 AFTER INSURANCE. She has tapped every resource available to her. Without the help of the community, this may set her back years, a decade, and quite possibly for the rest of her life. People have become destitute for far less. You shouldn’t have to beg to have the right medical tools to live but this is the system we are under.
Her son needs her. Her friends need her. Megan is my friend and my support. I can’t lose her to something so stupid. Recently, her pump didn’t shut off as soon as it should have and I watched my friend nearly die of a diabetic coma. Her son witnessed it. That image of watching someone losing their battle with staying on the right side of life stays with you. It’s not just stressful and terrifying for her. It’s hard on everyone.
We’re asking for a goal of $5250 to help cover the cost directly for her pump. We get it. Everyone is strapped. Everyone has car troubles. We all have to face the dentist. She cannot help she was born with an autoimmune disease and she cannot help she lives in a country with a government that could not care less. We might not be able to take down the system but we absolutely can lift people up. I beg of you, if you have anything extra, even a few bucks will make a difference, when you are this close to being on the margins of life.
