Hello all! I am writing on behalf of my dear friend and yours, Yasmin Silva. For the past four years Yasmin has fallen victim to malpractice and misdiagnosis of a spinal injury. On May 31st Yasmin underwent her final, corrective surgery.
We need your help in raising money for years of medical debt followed by unnecessary procedures, injections and the failed surgery that has not only left her with unimaginable medical debt but also immense pain and mental anguish. Were hoping to raise $10,000 (she spent a total of $48,980).
In 2019 Yasmin’s arm went paralyzed which led to a cervical disc replacement that fixed one problem, but gave her a new problem that would change her everyday life. When she approached her surgeon to tell him of the new issues she was experiencing since the surgery, his “resolution” was needless injections and steroids. As her trusted surgeon, she complied with his recommendations. He even instructed her to undergo ketamine infusions and antidepressants, making her question her own sanity. Never trying to get to the underlying cause of her pain in the four years under his treatment. Not only this, Yasmin went on to try therapists, massages, chiropractors, natural healing treatments etc. outside of her surgeon and nothing worked. Finally, she was referred to a different specialist and it was confirmed that the implant from the original surgery was the cause of her pain and restricting proper movement from that disc down creating at times unbearable pain. However, through all of this Yasmin remained determined and never gave up.
Working with her first hand I have seen the physical and mental strain that this “invisible” pain has caused her. Nerve flaring and spasms in her neck that were visible to the eye. Not to mention the mental and financial strain this has caused from missing shifts, having to leave work early, compounded by the worry of judgement from her coworkers and supervisors.
Throughout this ordeal, Yasmin worked just to pay for her medical expenses; however, being out of work throughout her recovery she needs our help! She loves our ONE HUMAN FAMILY as well as the family she made at her newest home LOZ! She also has loved ones in Massachusetts and South Florida where she has also resided. Even if you just met her once, you know she is a bright light who is humble, selfless and resilient! I remember her always saying, "there are people going through worse than me, I'm just lucky to get another day." She says I love you to almost everyone she knows and she spreads it around like wildfire.
Any amount you can give would be so greatly appreciated!!!!
Those of you that are friends with her, worked with her, sympathized or even covered a shift and stayed by her side through all of this… A MILLION TIMES THANK YOU! She wouldn’t be able to do any of this without everyone’s love and support.
