Lets pitch in to help Randy's family in their time of grief.

Hello friends and family. The Phelps family needs our help. The family patriarch, father, husband, son, brother, and friend to all of us, Randy, was in a terrible accident. Randy had taken off on his scooter to run for some parts to fix the dishwasher when he hit a pothole near SE 52nd and Mitchell and has suffered a pretty severe TBI. People from the community, neighbors, and the Toast staff ran to his aid and got emergency services on the scene within minutes. He was rushed to OHSU, and the trauma team raced against time to relieve the swelling to his brain. Randy has been up on the hill for more than 2 weeks with prayers and love coming in daily; he has fought. Steph, Luke, & Penelope are right by his side. Unfortunately, his injuries are too severe to recover. The time has come for Randy to give one last time, as an organ donor. Randy has chosen to give himself to others in need. A selfless and beautiful act. Unfortunately, Randy won't be here to help Steph and the kids, but we can! Randy is still a young man at only 45 years of age, his eldest son Luke 22 yrs old, has been studying at Portland State University and is set to graduate the coming school year. His daughter Penelope is a senior at Franklin High school and has plans to attend The University of Oregon after graduation. These wonderful kids are gonna need our support. I know many of us have been waiting for the call to let us know how we can help, so here it is. Please donate to Randy's family. Although Steph works hard at her teaching career, Randy was the major breadwinner. Without his income, it's going to be a struggle. Steph is a proud person and does not want to ask for help so I started this fundraiser. I hope we can give them a boost, allow them time to grieve, and alleviate some of that burden. They have enough to carry for now. I know Randy would do it for us. Many times, Randy quietly donated to our kids' sports teams and fundraisers even stopping at lemonade stands for neighborhood kids. He was always there to help a friend move or install a door. This family has never asked for help before; they are prideful, self-reliant, a strong family. Anything helps. Even the smaller donations of $20 are a blessing and add up. If you cannot donate, that's ok too. Please know that Randy is thankful for your prayers and to everyone who has helped or plans to in the future. We will leave this fundraiser up as long as they need us to, so there will be some time to give. Donations can be made with a personal message. You can also be anonymous if you prefer. Also, if you're not comfortable using GoFundMe or online contribution, message me, and we can find how to best get it to Steph and the kids. Please feel free to share this gofundme with anyone who Randy or his family may know. Randy touched so many people with his welcoming smile and comedic personality across the entire country he made friends and each of you were important to him. Arrangements for Randy will be made at a future date as he still has a little time left. I will share any updates or information so you can check back here or reach out directly. Thank you for your help; it really does mean a lot to the Phelps family.
