Earlier this spring, Chansaly's 4-year-old son, Tevi, was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue type of cancer. Generally, this type of cancer has high odds to be treated and cured and Tevi is in good hands (Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology) which is a kind of relief.
For those who have met Tevi, words are unnecessary. For those who haven't, it's enough to know he's the sweetest 4-year-old little boy, son of our esteemed colleague Chansaly Ker.
While we can certainly not make sense of how such a health issue feels like from a 4-year-old's point of view, we all being parents can surely make sense of how this does feel from a parent's point of view. We can't even imagine the chills, heartbeats, agony, stress, and sleepless nights Chansaly and his wife have gone through, let alone that feeling of what comes next.
Now, treating cancer can be ridiculously expensive, and we know a parent would take anything to see his child healthy and happy again. And we are absolutely convinced Tevi will be cured and will be healthy and happy again. It's just not right otherwise.
This fundraising campaign is not meant to support Tevi's cure really, Chansaly and Erin would never ask for this, yet they might as well use it as per their best interest. This fund is from colleagues and friends and is meant to be a little gift for Tevi. We are more than certain that when his adventure is over, Tevi and his family would have a little something to spend on a nice relaxing and well-deserved vacation.
We wish Tevi a fast recovery and his family's courage and hope!
Nik and Joe and the whole Oneweb family!
P.S. Tevi was there at the first OneWeb UT launch with the old logo on it ;-)
