Luis is raising funds to continue with his therapies. He put together the video I’m sharing.

I was told many of you tried to help but Luis’s Paypal wouldn’t allow you to.

So I’m sharing the GoFundMe we created for him three years ago.

His goal is high, a reflection of the high costs of the different therapies he needs to continue his amazing recovery (physical, cognitive, language, medical).

As I explained three years ago, insurance in Mexico maxes out, and they are not covering his therapies anymore.

THE ORIGINAL STORY:

On Tuesday, March 23th, Luis went home from work with what he thought was a bad headache. That night, his roommates found him on the floor of the apartment they share, unable to move or speak. A small vein had ruptured in his brain. Unfortunately, many hours had gone by (no one knows exactly how many) since the incident. When his friends were finally able to get Luis to the hospital the brain scans showed half of his brain was dark. The Left Half. No signs of activity. 

The doctors were less than optimistic. We needed a miracle.

Luis is only 24. Yes, 24 years young. One year out of college, starting a new job, beginning a relationship. 

Luis, the father, and Julia, the mother, were in Mexico City while all of this was happening in Guadalajara, 5 hours away by car. It was well after 10pm when they heard about Luisito. No flights available. The cars in no conditions to go on a highway drive. The only option: an 8-hour all-night bus ride. As they waited for the bus to depart, they called us. We (Olga, my wife and Luis’s sister, Luis our son and me) live in Dallas, TX. When the phone rang at 11:30 at night our hearts sank. The news brought us to our knees. Being so far away, there was only one thing we could do.

And so the praying began; energy was shared; Angels were called in to help; an army of believers joined our praying circles; and, unbeknown to us, the miracle began.

Luis was released from the hospital on Monday, April 5th. His brain scan showed the left side of his brain was recovering at an amazing speed. But he’s still unable to move his right hand, only slightly moves his right leg, and his speech is highly impaired.

So long term therapeutic help is needed. And the insurance coverage maxed out with the Hospital expenses. All he will get are 60 therapeutic session (that’s physical, speech and psychological/emotional) and we’ve been told that at least three times that number will be needed. He will also need to leave Guadalajara and move to Mexico City to live with his mother, so he can receive the care he needs.

A special bed is needed; a wheelchair; bath remodeling; some home remodeling to accommodate his new reality until he fully recovers (yes, that’s what we are praying for, that’s what we believe, that’s what we voice); and a helper so his parents can get to work.

These expenses, plus medicines and doctor visits, are the things that your help will fund. The sooner we can do all of them, the better.

Anything you can give that will help us reach our goal is greatly appreciated. Because the more of us that come together, the bigger the miracle will be.
