Let’s make it Shantastic!

This fundraising effort started two years ago to honor the strength and perseverance of my cousin Shannon Jones.  The inaugural fundraise was from my initial Locks of Love donation.  My son Andrew thought it was such a nice thing that he also wanted to grow his hair to donate to someone in need and help raise some money.  So here we are, round two.   

The inspiration for our efforts remains the same, my cousin Shannon.  For 13+ years she has successfully battled ovarian cancer with a dignity and attitude that are astonishing. She is a hero to me and many others; therefore, we wanted to do two things to contribute to the fight against this horrible disease:

1. Raise $1,000 for each year she has endured and triumphed vs. cancer. The money will be going to the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Cincinnati (on behalf of her team The Shantastics) for the ongoing research and development of medicine, procedures and care.

2. Grow and donate our hair to the Locks of Love foundation for their work with children dealing with cancer treatments.
