Let’s Love on Terry and His Girls
On April 25, our dad, Terry Mellen, was airlifted to Ann Arbor for the first time and was diagnosed with Arteriovenous Malformation *AVM* which is a tangle of blood vessels in his brain, something he’s likely had the majority of his life.
Once we had that diagnosis we returned home and treatment was scheduled. Unfortunately in the early morning of April 29, those vessels ruptured and he was once again air lifted down to UofM. This time with a much scarier prognosis that has left him and our family in a whirlwind of neuro exams, hard decisions, tears and stress, and lots of FaceTimes and Zooms due to hospital visitor restrictions. He has had several bleeds and a stroke that has left our hard working, hilarious, selfless dad in a state of near unresponsiveness. Thankfully he is now in the process of learning how to function again.
While we’re extremely grateful for his health insurance, we’re still left with hefty deductibles, rehab stays, travel expenses and the general upkeep of his home while he’s away.
The last few months have been the hardest for myself and my family, so any help to ease the financial burden would be appreciated beyond words.
