Hello! I’m Marina Azimova, a BCBA living in West Hartford, CT.

My son Joey passed away in 2015. He had autism. He was a funny, loving, and incredibly capable young man who achieved far more than anyone could have imagined. While he didn’t give speeches, he communicated his needs with just a word or two. He could read simple stories from his 350 sight words, navigate computer and tablet, play easy video games, travel the world with me, swim, and most importantly, he could love deeply.

In his blessed memory, I established a memorial scholarship for a Hall High School graduate with strong grades, someone who plans to attend college or university and has volunteered their time to support students with special needs.

In his 22 years, Joey touched the lives of so many people. He showed me the path to my own professional journey and completely transformed how I view the world. He made everyone around him a little bit better, even when they didn’t realize it at first.

This year, I’m increasing the scholarship by $500 to help offset the effects of inflation and provide more support for this year’s recipient.

But I can’t do this alone. I need your help, dear friends. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference. I know I can count on the amazing "Joys of Joey" community. Thank you so much for your support!
