Let’s Keep Pets Home, Not Hungry — A Community Effort by Peace for Paws
At Peace for Paws, we believe pets are family. Each day, we meet people across Las Vegas and Henderson who adore their companions but are feeling the strain of rising costs. For many, even purchasing dog or cat food has become unexpectedly difficult — and in heartbreaking situations, pets are surrendered simply because families can’t afford to feed them.
We want to help change that.
From now through December 15, we are raising $1,000 to purchase dog and cat food for families in need. Peace for Paws will match every dollar, up to $1,000 — allowing us to place $2,000 worth of food directly into our community.
All food purchased will be delivered to The Nevada SPCA Pet Food Pantry the week before the holidays. Although this is not an official partnership, we deeply appreciate the work they do and chose them because their program aligns beautifully with our mission: keeping people and pets together through life’s hardest moments.
Why This Matters
Financial hardship, housing changes, and unexpected life events affect both people and their pets. Research suggests that:
- Many families who surrender a pet say they simply couldn’t afford food
- Access to pet food is one of the most effective ways to prevent unnecessary rehoming
- Keeping pets with the families who love them supports both emotional and community well-being
These are not statistics to us — they’re conversations we have with local families every week.
How Your Donation Helps
We will be:
- Shopping sales and comparing prices
- Buying in bulk at Costco, Sam’s Club, and other stores
- Purchasing both dog and cat food, focusing on pantry staples
- Ensuring quality with the guidance of Dr. Sarena, a licensed veterinarian
Our Plan
- Campaign runs through December 15
- We purchase the food immediately after
- We deliver everything to the KEPPT Pantry before the holiday
- We share photos, totals, and updates on GoFundMe, social media, and by email
❤️ A Note From Dr. Sarena
“I created Peace for Paws because I believe every pet deserves care, dignity, and compassion. Lately, I’ve spoken to so many families who are doing their best but are struggling to feed their beloved companions. If we can help take even a little bit of that burden away, I feel it’s our responsibility — and our privilege — to do so.”
