Our beloved friend Dr. Reta Hailu Belda has kidney disease. Over time, his kidney disease has worsened, causing his kidneys not to work well enough to keep him alive. The Board of Drs has decided & recommended he undergo a kidney transplant urgently to survive.
I am Tegbaru Bellete Gobezie, a PhD candidate and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada. I am originally from Ethiopia, and I have known Dr. Reta Hailu Belda since 2000 in Haramaya University (the then Alemaya University) in Ethiopia. The friendship started during our undergraduate journey continued growing and we (together with two other friends: Alemu and Wole) became very close friends and business partners.
Reta is one of the scholars his country, community and family has produced and invested in. He is such a young and brilliant scholar who envisions to be of great service to his country, a man of high standards and good manners who has due regards for everyone.
So, let’s join hands to keep Dr. Reta Hailu Belda alive!
The funds we raise will be directly used to cover his medical treatment, particularly for the kidney transplant oversees (outside Ethiopia). To facilitate, this process, I opened a day to day saving account dedicated to this fundraising activity under my personal banking account in Canada. The withdrawal of the fund will be to this bank account, and I will transfer the fund to the hospital whenever Dr. Belda advises me to do so.
FYI, you are contributing in Canadian dollar (CAD).
