Let’s keep Abdul home
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
We are the Gilpin-Jalloh family, and we’re reaching out for your urgent support to help keep our brother, son, and loved one Abdul here in the only home he’s ever known.
Abdul has lived in the United States since he was just 14 months old. Our family came to this country from Sierra Leone in 1987 and has lived in East Windsor, New Jersey for over 20 years. This is where Abdul grew up. This is where his life is.
On Friday, May 23rd, ICE unexpectedly showed up at the door and detained Abdul.
What was supposed to be a normal day turned into a nightmare, he is now being held at an ICE facility in Newark. His future is uncertain and unless we raise the necessary funds, he could be deported to a country he hasn’t been to since infancy.
Though Sierra Leone is where he was born, Abdul doesn’t know anyone there and does not speak the language. For him, being sent back would mean losing everything his family, his community, his home. We’ve spoken with lawyers, and to give Abdul a real chance at staying here and securing his green card, we need to raise $15,000 for legal fees and bond.
Because of his immigration status, Abdul encountered ongoing challenges securing consistent and stable employment for years to support himself and help out where he could. He’s always kept his head down and tried to move forward, even when the system made things incredibly hard.
Abdul is turning 40 years old on June 27, 2025 and our greatest hope is that he gets to celebrate that milestone here at home, surrounded by the people who love him.
If you can give, please do and no amount is too small. If you can’t give, sharing this page is just as important. The sooner we reach our goal, the sooner Abdul can come home.
Thank you for your support, care, and kindness. It means everything to our family right now.
With love and hope,
The Gilpin Jalloh Family
Best Regards
