Update August 11, 2022
Hayley's recovery is taking small steps forward. She currently cannot hear out of her left ear. She's becoming more mobile with assistance. Her memory is sketchy but
she’s talking a bit more and cracking jokes. Doctors say she just needs to make it through Saturday with her brain swelling because these days are the most crucial in her recovery. We can't have any more brain swelling. Her MRI is currently showing no difference, which is also good! Thank you everyone that has donated and shared. Christina and family are blown away by the support. Please continue to share so we can bring Hayley home!

On August 7th, at around 1:15 am Sunday, Kansas City, Missouri, police attempted to conduct a traffic violation on a gray Chrysler 300. In the area of Broadway south of West 39th Street, an officer used lights and sirens to stop the Chrysler. However, the vehicle continued and did not stop. Police lost sight of the Chrysler after it turned east on 39th Street and then turned south. They spotted the vehicle when it was heading north on Broadway Boulevard in the southbound lanes.
After running a red light at West 39th Street, the Chrysler struck a silver Hyundai, causing both vehicles to collide with a white Ford E450 that was stopped at a red light.
The three-vehicle collision caused the Chrysler to overturn. Still, the driver was able to exit the vehicle and run from the scene. He was later caught by police north of the scene and transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Of the three Hyundai occupants, the driver sustained minor injuries and the front-seat passenger received critical head injuries. The front-seat passenger struck the windshield as they were unrestrained.
Hayley Brown was the front-seat passenger in the Hyundai. She is currently in a Kansas City hospital in ICU.
Hayley was born in Leavenworth but moved to LaCygne where she went to Prairie View schools. She played varsity volleyball and basketball. She graduated from high school in 2018. She went on to pursue an education to become an RN. She graduated in May 2022 with a 4.0 and was on the Dean’s Honor List. She moved to the Kansas City area and started a job at Children's Mercy Hospital just 2 weeks ago.
Hayley loves all creatures, great and small. She is very outgoing and has a huge heart. She loves to travel and meet new people, and family is one of the most important things in her life. She loves her boyfriend beyond measure.
Her mother, Christina, brother Oza, boyfriend Kaden, and sister in law Katie have been by her side since the accident. Her close friends have also been near to lend their support. She has a very long recovery ahead of her. Her ability to earn an income has been halted, and although she has health insurance, she will still have bills to pay so she has a place to call home when she completes rehab.
We will keep everyone updated as Hayley navigates her recovery in true Hayley fashion. If you are unable to contribute, please share this post so we can all join together and bring Hayley home.
