Let's help with James Powell's recovery

Less than two weeks ago my thoughtful, kind, handsome nephew James was rushed to hospital in an ambulance with a suspected seizure or stroke.

He had been poorly for some time, with a dreadful headache and pressure behind his eye, which he described to health professionals as being like a 'balloon behind my eyes'.

After multiple trips to the walk in centre and A&E, no-one could diagnose the cause. As time went on, these symptoms turned into a fever, aches and pains, and finally vomiting. He was rushed to Salisbury A&E by ambulance with a suspected seizure or stroke.

Following a CT scan he was quickly transferred to Southampton Hospital. We now know that he had a dangerous and life-threatening  infection/swelling in his brain. He immediately underwent surgeries to control the infection. Remarkably the team also removed two parts of his skull to alleviate pressure on his brain, which are still to be put back.

The amazing work by the neuro surgeons saved his life. He is now very, very poorly but is slowly recovering.  This will take many, many months.

Specifically any money raised will go towards:
1) the cost of an iPad that James can watch films on in hospital (he has currently borrowed one from a friend, thank you)
2) as he recovers more, he could potentially connect with his friends on social media.
 3) to help my sister, Lynne, who is living at the hospital and currently furloughed  from work for the third time since the pandemic began
4) to help my niece, Charlotte, with some financial support involved with long trips driving to and from the hospital to see him.

I have found the hardest part is a sense of helplessness at this time; we can't even visit him and hug them all during this traumatic time. I thought that even donating a small amount to their family would be a practical way we could help. It would be so, so appreciated.
