Let's help Venezuela go to the Chemistry Olympiad in 2025!

Dear friends of the Venezuelan Chemistry Olympiad,

The Venezuelan Team for the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) needs your help! This year’s Olympiad will be hosted in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from the 05th to the 14st of July and our team is ready to meet talented students representing over 80 countries!

Within this campaign, AVOQUIM (The Association of Venezuelan Chemistry Olympiad) aims to raise USD 2,000, which will go towards the trip costs. We had already managed, through the kindness of the organizers, a waiver in the participation fee and an airplane ticket for one of our students, but we still need to cover the remaining amount for the other tickets and the travel insurances.

Join us in supporting our students and excellence in science education in Venezuela. Your help will secure their participation! As in past years, the raised money will be transferred to the bank account of one of the members of AVOQUIM, in this case Alessandro Trigilio, who will administrate it to cover these costs.

A bit more about Chemistry Olympiads in Venezuela:

In the past 20 years, the members of AVOQUIM have been advocating for the chemistry Olympiad program in Venezuela. Through its events, AVOQUIM reaches every single corner of the country, motivates students and teachers, and ultimately enriches the educational system in Venezuela. AVOQUIM provide opportunities for talented students to further develop their scientific skills and become a beacon of hope for future technologists that will propel the development of Latin America.

Throughout the history of the International and Iberoamerican Chemistry Olympiads, Venezuelan teams have accumulated 3 gold medals, 21 silver medals, 46 bronze medals, 13 honorable mentions and 4 awards for the best experimental examination. Alumni from the Olympiads now occupy positions in the best universities around the world, have become industry leaders, and -most importantly - help to connect Venezuela with world developments and are a fundamental force that keeps projects such as the Olympiads alive.

They were selected through the Venezuelan National Olympiad and will be training in the next months to achieve the required level to participate in the International Chemistry Olympiad.

Nevertheless, their participation seems threatened by the continued economic crisis that Venezuela faces. As of last year, AVOQUIM has decided to call upon the generosity of all the friends of the Venezuela Olympiads to overcome these economic hurdles. In exchange for your contribution, our students will have the experience of a lifetime; connect our country with the rest of the world; propel their future scientific careers; and by doing so brighten Venezuela’s science future.
