Hi my name is Dana. Ive been doing cat rescue since 2014. This fundraiser is for a cat I rescued back in 2021.

About two years ago, someone dumped a young kitten into one of my colonies outside to fend for himself. He was maybe 4-5 months old. I trapped him immediately and named him Basil! He went to into foster care and eventually got adopted and was renamed Tigger! I’m always in touch with his family for updates, he’s happy and they adore him!

He recently gave them a huge scare though when he got sick, seemingly out of nowhere. He stopped eating, stopped using the bathroom, and was only vomiting- 3 things you never want to see happen, especially simultaneously!

They rushed him to the ER, and after serious diagnostic tests (labs, X-rays , etc), it was determined that he had urinary blockage. This is when the cat tries to urinate but cannot because the urethra is obstructed by mucus, crystals, or small stones. Not only is this painful to the cat, but left untreated can be fatal - it’s terrible, not to mention so scary to hear this.

Tigger’s mom reached out to me in a panic from the ER. The vet said he would have to have a procedure to unblock everything.

Tigger’s mom and human brother spent the night at the hospital with him, hoping their love and good energy would make him well enough to come home the next day but he had to stay one more night.

$5400 later it was a success but he was not out of the woods just yet. Less than 2 weeks later he had trouble urinating again and was crying. Back to the ER to get unblocked for the second time.

This time he was referred out to a specialist to

undergo a surgery called Perineal Urethrostomy, a procedure that removes the narrowest part of the urethra allowing easier urination with a lower risk of reobstruction. Not only a serious surgery, but an expensive one. Almost $8K! ($7678 to be exact!)

He is finally back home and recuperating, but his mom is still in shock from the bills. I said I would try my best to help raise some funds to help her out. I know we know that things can happen and they can be expensive, but I also know it’s not easy to ask for help. If anyone can donate anything at all, all proceeds will go to Tigger’s family. I and they would truly appreciate it.
