On November 11, 2022, John and Jeff were driving on Interstate 74 to attend the Nita Sunderland Memorial at the Peoria Riverfront Museum when a semi hit an overpass and caused debris to fly off its bed. It blew into another vehicle, and that vehicle swerved into John and Jeff, causing them to crash into the ditch lodged between two trees. The guys just purchased this fantastic Volvo Wagon about two years ago, and it was perfect for them. It had no rust, new tires, and it ran perfectly! The best part was it was a wagon so that they could haul artwork around. It was a 2002 model, but it was perfect for them. I firmly believe the car saved their lives. They walked away from the crash without a scratch. (You should see the car!!) OF course, they insisted on borrowing a car and working at the Art Guild the following day. They now have a rental car for four weeks, and the insurance company only wants to give them around $3000 for their car. They are fighting this because it wasn't their fault that this happened, but resolving this may take a while. Meanwhile, they are finding that it's $14,000+ to find a similar vehicle, and these vehicles are in other states.
Jeff and John have been a blessing to many of us in so many ways. They live to serve this community through the schools, the church, the art community and many other ways, so I'd like to help them to get through this little hiccup in their life. If the twins have touched your life somehow, this is a great way to thank them.
Also, I have hinted to them that I'd like to do something like this, and they didn't think it was necessary, but I would love to help them. If you feel the same, please consider donating a few dollars to help them get back on the road.
