Let's help the Neid family fight through this year

Dear Friends, Family, and Caring souls,

My name is Joseph Mejia and I am starting a fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend and co-worker Karine and her beautiful family.

Karine's husband Byron Neid, is facing a challenging battle against Loeys-Dietz Syndrome . This serious condition impacts the connective tissues in the body, making individuals more susceptible to aortic dissection and aneurysm, even at a younger age. Both of her children Keegan and Amelie are battling LDS as well whom I've had the pleasure of teaching over the years.

Byron has faced this daunting diagnosis with incredible courage, but he now needs our support more than ever. He is scheduled for two critical surgeries at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, a renowned institution known for its expertise in treating patients with connective tissue disorders. The surgeries aim to address Byron's delicate tissues, which are prone to tearing, and include strengthening his descending aortic root and, ideally, placing a stent from his aorta to the bottom of his abdomen. Notably, seven years ago, Byron underwent aortic valve replacement surgery due to a previous aneurysm.

As Byron embarks on this challenging journey towards recovery, he is not only dealing with the physical and emotional strain of the surgeries but also grappling with the financial burden associated with medical bills and potential loss of wages during his recovery period.
