Let’s Help The Mosleys

This past year has been quite challenging for Beth and Dylan. Last fall, doctors discovered an orange sized tumor in Beth’s back. The tumor was originally believed to be benign, but had wrapped itself around the nerves and her spine. Doctors told Beth she would require a 6 hour surgery to remove the tumor.  While waiting for surgery to be scheduled, Beth and Dylan discovered they needed to leave the home they’d been living in for 10 years. After some house hunting, they found a home that would meet their needs, and put an offer on the home. On January 22, while waiting to close on the new house, Beth went in for surgery. The 6 hour surgery for a benign tumor turned into a 12 hour surgery to remove 2 tumors! One of the tumors was enveloped by the other, creating what is called a collision tumor. The tumor that had been seen on all the imaging was as expected -benign. The second tumor, unfortunately, was malignant. The tumors were far more pervasive that initially thought, wrapping around the aorta, the nerves, and destroying many vertabrae. Beth was in the hospital for a week, diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and is currently going through chemotherapy to put the cancer into remission. Multiple myeloma is incurable. Treatment is chemotherapy to go into remission, then a stem cell transplant, then life long chemotherapy to hopefully keep the cancer at bay.

During this time of Beth's surgery, hospitalization, and subsequent diagnosis, Beth and Dylan had to move homes, and continue to care for Beth's father, Chas. 6 years ago, they moved Chas into their home to care for him when he fell ill. It became a full time job. Dylan became Chas's full time care giver, and it was his primary source of income. Chas fell gravely ill about 5 weeks after moving into the new house, and was taken to the emergency room. Chas had pneumonia and was in congestive heart failure. Unfortunately, the doctors weren't able to get Chas well, and he passed away peacefully on May 20, 2019
Dylan’s full time position has been taking care of Chas. At this point, their income has been cut by 2/3. Beth is filing for disability, but likely won’t see anything until 2021. She is unable to work much at this time. Sometime this summer, Beth is expected to go to Denver for her stem cell transplant. The expectation is that she and Dylan will be in Denver for 2-4 weeks, until Beth is medically released to return home. With this upcoming procedure and time away from the Springs, taking on a full time job is tricky for both of them. Dylan is receiving unemployment benefits and applying for jobs, but at this time the need is imminent. Can you help? Any donation you are able to make is appreciated.
