Let’s help the Fowler-Malone Family!

Imagine seeing your 11 year old child gain 86 pounds in the course of 6 months with no changes to her diet or exercise.  That is what happened to this family.  Amber (mom) noticed that her daughter, Kelsey was rapidly gaining weight.  Kelsey regularly sees her pediatrician and at every visit Amber would express her concern about her daughter’s weight only to be met with..”you just need to monitor her caloric intake”.  Amber knew in her heart that something was wrong.  She took Kelsey to Grand Prairie Urgent Care for a sports physical.  When the provider saw Kelsey she noted a significant weight gain since that last time she saw her for a sick visit only a month earlier.  After several questions during the exam the provider expressed her concern and said that she suspected that Kelsey might have Cushings.  She ordered a lab test to confirm the suspected diagnosis.  Kelsey was definitely positive for Cushings, but to what degree.... after several visits to specialists and Labs and MRIs Kelsey was diagnosed with Cushings disease.  This disease is extremely rare and even more so in children.  Kelsey’s diagnosis requires brain surgery to remove the tumor that was detected on her pituitary gland.  As you can imagine the family is going through a laundry list of emotions!  Surgery is one thing, but brain surgery on your now 12 year old child is a lot to process!  We are asking you to help in anyway you can. The go fund me was set up to cover Kelsey’s insurance deductible and her parent’s time off work. Please imagine being in this whirlwind of a situation and not being emotionally or financially prepared.
