Lets help the Cyr Family

Kim and Glen made the very difficult decision to admit their son Terran to North Bay Regional Health Center on Thanksgiving weekend due to serious aggression and extreme self injurious behavior. Glen and Kim believe there is something happening in his little body and he just can't tell them. They have been working very hard with the hospital staff and agencies to get answers and help.

Kim and Glen have written a letter to the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Youth, our MPP, MP, all the heads of our local agencies just to name a few to try and seek assistance. Terran needs specialized help that North Bay just can't offer.

Currently Terran has been transferred to CHEO in Ottawa because the North Bay regional hospital is just not equipped with proper support, knowledge or technology to perform the tests needed. North Bay has done as much as they can. At this point many specialized tests have been performed and no answers as to what is happening to their little man.

A meeting was held with all local agencies, school support, Child Advocate Office and MCSS to determine what could be done to help Terran and there were no real solutions other than when Terran returns home, our family faces the terrible choice that no family should have to make. Place Terran on a wait list which is 6 to 8 months long for a Treatment Institution, 6 hours away in London, ON, and while waiting he will be placed in a specialized home in Sudbury to take care of his complex needs, or until another solution can be found locally while they wait for the only specialized treatment facility to try and help Terran!

No Parent should have to send their Non-Verbal child away from their family, friends and support system to try and get them the help they so desperately need!

All of this comes at a very high cost not just financially but emotionally.

. Glen and Kim have been by his side working with the medical team to help their son. But being so far away from home they are currently unable to bring in an income at this time. The costs associated with being away for an unknown amount of time have been increasing and they need all the support they can get. Kim is the co-founder of PLAYS (people lending autistic youth support) and has been very involved in the community to help families with children with Autism. She has helped so many families and now she needs our support while they are in crisis. We need to come together to try and help the Cyr family in this difficult time, Financial donations will help them ease some of the stress
