Thais would like to have your help in any way that you can. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer and has been given 10 months left to live. Let’s support her with any amount to go for alternative treatments, which could allow her to extend her life with her two sons and husband.

Thais has a degree in geophysics and is a Real Estate Professional, a hard worker, a thoughtful person, and a purposeful woman. She is also a mother, a wife, a friend, and a daughter—making her incredibly meaningful to so many. She is 51 years old and enjoys helping anyone with her knowledge and connecting with her community. She loves babysitting, cooking, and spending valuable time with her family and friends.

Please help us support Thais, so she can have an alternative to regain health. This fundraiser will allow her to move forward with treatments and hope in this challenging time. Her two sons and husband also fight ahead, and our financial support will help Thais and her family finance out-of-pocket treatments.

In February 2021, after recovering from a COVID-19 infection, Thais started feeling pain in her abdomen. She received the news that the pain she felt in her abdomen was caused by a malignant tumour located in the tail of her pancreas, where tumours are challenging to diagnose. In March 2021, Thais underwent risky surgery to extract the tumour.

In May 2021, Thais began chemotherapy sessions for 6 months at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, Alberta, and rang the bell that symbolized the end of her treatment in late October 2021.

Thais had regular lab tests and CT scans with promising results. Her oncologist confirmed that all results were within normal values and that the CT scan showed no apparent tumours until early August 2022, when Thais heard the devastating news that the cancer was back. She was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer that had travelled to the lungs and peritoneum with an estimated 10-12 months to live. The oncologist did not offer any treatment options aside from palliative chemotherapy sessions to keep her alive and maintain some quality of life until her last moments on Earth.

However, Thais has been optimistic about potential experimental treatments and clinical trials, but after very intense research, some of them are in another province or even other countries and they are not covered by Alberta Health Services. Currently, her family is looking for alternative therapies through clinical trials, which could allow Thais to survive for more time than expected and reduce the side effects of chemotherapy.

Please help us support Thais, her husband and two sons. They need support to cover the financial burden associated with this challenging time, including the costs associated with potential clinical trials and alternative treatments outside Canada if necessary.

Su oncólogo confirmó que todos los resultados estaban dentro de los valores normales y que la tomografía computarizada no mostró tumores hasta el chequeo de agosto de 2022, cuando Thais escuchó la devastadora noticia de que el cáncer había regresado. Le diagnosticaron cáncer de páncreas metastásico en etapa 4 que había viajado a los pulmones y al peritoneo con un estimado de 10 a 12 meses de vida. El oncólogo no ofreció ninguna opción de tratamiento aparte de las sesiones de quimioterapia paliativa para mantenerla con vida y mantener cierta calidad de vida hasta sus últimos momentos en la Tierra.

Sin embargo, Thais ha sido optimista sobre los posibles tratamientos experimentales y/o ensayos clínicos, y después de una investigación muy intensa, algunos de ellos son en otras provincias o en otros países y no están cubiertos por el seguro médico de la Provincia de Alberta. Actualmente, su familia está buscando terapias alternativas a través de ensayos clínicos, que podrían permitirle a Thais sobrevivir más tiempo del esperado.
