Let’s help Terry Hoverter after the fire

Our dear friend and colleague Terry Hoverter suffered a major loss this week when his home sustained extensive smoke and fire damage. Fortunately, his wife and children are unhurt – but the harrowing incident left them very shaken. Terry, who is currently in Somalia as the interim COP for Creative’s election program, and his wife need our support.

Though the blaze started in the house next door, Terry’s home is uninhabitable for the foreseeable future as it is severely damaged by fire, smoke and water. Indeed, the heat was so intense it blew out the windows on one side of the house. Since it is an old home, authorities are concerned about asbestos. The blaze totaled the family’s car, which greatly reduces the family’s ability to put back together their lives.

They are sorting out temporary housing (a challenge compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic) and will need to replace nearly all their clothing. Though insurance will cover most of the expenses, the financial impact on them is expected to be considerable.
