My friend Ted has spent his entire life helping others. Whether it was donating to the many charities that are close to his heart, or helping a friend in need, Ted has always been there to offer monetary assistance and guidance.
An artist and master calligrapher, Ted enjoyed great success for many years. He has always lived leanly, never needing more in life but his good friends, nice Brooklyn apartment, and the retreats he values so much for maintaining and improving his mental health.
His physical health, however, was changing. Diagnosed with prostate cancer a few years ago, Ted has been undergoing treatment to keep it at bay. Recently, he was blessed to have had a surgical procedure in NYC which has proven to be successful. The cutting edge technique used however, is still considered experimental and not covered by insurance. The cost exceeded $100,000
Ted has always been careful and prudent with his money. His investments were made with the intent of eventually donating a bulk to his favorite charities and those in need. Unfortunately, he recently became the victim of a highly sophisticated scam. He was frauded out of his entire life’s savings and security and does not have enough money to pay his mounting medical bills, or the everyday expenses of living simply. He has reported this to the FBI who opened an investigation but there is little hope of recovering any of his funds. Ted is now at risk of losing his apartment, and is living in constant fear and anxiety.
For someone who never imagined he would ever be in this position after years of giving, Ted is the one in need of a gift from us.
