Hi everyone my name is Eileen Eldridge Medeiros and I am setting up this fund raiser to help my daughter Tammy Townsend to pay for medical bills. Tammy was first diagnosed in 2008 at the age of 31 with invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. At that time she had a lumpectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Her cancer was estrogen receptive so she went on medication to block the estrogen. After ten years of remission the cancer returned in 2018. Tammy had a full mastectomy . She tried to go the breast reconstruction route but she was in such agony with the breast expanders and also deciding to not have something foreign in her body she choose to go flat. It was the best decision for her. She also had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed ( official name is salpingo-oophorectomy) to shut down more of the estrogen in her body. Again on medication to block the estrogen. Now it is 2021 and she has just been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, it is in her liver. Right now she is set for consults with Oncology Surgeons. The road ahead of her is very hard, exhausting physically, emotionally and financially. Tammy has always had health insurance but as we all know it is not like it used to be. Her out of pocket expense is just crazy. Tammy is not married and does not have a significant other, so as a single woman meeting the cost of the tests, doctors, hospitals is just mind blowing.
