Hi everyone my name is Christa. My mom, Anita, went into the hospital yesterday after work in a lot of pain. She thought it was a gallstone issue, but after 5 hours and an Xray, a CT scan, and blood work they discovered a tumor in her chest. As of late last night she has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her chest, behind her ribcage that is 7cm large.

Apparently doctors had missed the growing tumor in other scans they had done previously, after she got into a roll over car accident (2 years ago) where a semi that blew a stop side, tboned her VW rabbit on the drivers side. Because the tumor was missed, it was allowed the opportunity to grow.

We are not yet sure if it's benign ot malignant or if it's spread as they don't want to prolong her getting surgery by doing more testing. We are sure that because of the size of the mass that they need to do the surgery to remove this mass as soon as possible. The surgery is being done in Victoria, a few hours from home.

The healing period after this surgery is 6 weeks where she will have to be off of work, not including what comes after if cancer has spread.

We're trying to remain positive and hoping that nothing is spread and the removal takes care of it.

My mother has no idea about this gofund me because she has too much pride to ask for help, but she won't have any money coming in while she undergoes this process. I (her daughter) am helping as much as possible, but with my own monthly bills, I can only do so much without both of us sinking. Any money raised will be put towards her rent and bills that are accumulated.

The doctor at the hospital said her appt with the specialist should be in a couple of weeks, and then at the appt they schedule the surgery.

She's only 50 years old and my brother (19) and myself (32) are trying to emotionally navigate this the best way possible to keep her in a good headspace. This is a hard one to navigate, though, with varying unknowns.

I know we're all in hard times right now and I never even thought gofund me would be an option. But here we are, and I don't expect much as I know the world is struggling. But, you just reading through this is so appreciated. Time is valuable, so thank you for taking time out of your day.
