For all who know my dad, we all know that he
would never ask for help - but seeing the
position he has found himself in, being his
daughter, and he being my most favorite human, I am going to utilize this amazing platform for
him. He needs to focus on his recovery and
nothing else.
May 13,2022 my dad was in a horrific car
accident that changed the course of his day to
day life as he knew it. It is truly a miracle he
survived given the circumstances. He was
driving around in Nissan 350z, his favorite little
sports car - going to give estimates for jobs
when he was in an accident. The car went up in
flames and he was helped out of the car by two
homeless men that coached him to crawl inch by inch with broken bones and everything he had in him away from the burning vehicle where he
was discovered and transported to the nearest
trauma center. He incurred severe injuries
including three fractures in his pelvis,
2 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a broken back
that was surgically stabilized with two
permanently housed rods.
My dad has been a self employed tile contractor since 1984 and other than with the help of one
other guy, he does most of the work on his own.
Being self employed, he has no disability
insurance, workers comp, or added policies to
protect himself. He has never advertised, and
always stayed consistently busy through referrals and word of mouth. He was the best at what he did and clients wanted him and only him. Tile is
all he has ever known.
The fractures in his pelvis has left him unable to use his left leg at all until it heals and we have no time frame for that. He was told he can never lift heavy things, like tile and cement, again. Another thing we know for sure is that he won’t physically be able to work for a minimum of six months to a year - if ever again given the nature of
performing that kind of work.
He will have no way to generate income in order to keep the house he has worked so hard on or
pay any of his monthly bills/expenses
When he gets sent home from his rehab facility, we have to make lots of adjustments to his house including the install of special amenities and
metal rails/bars as well as make everything
wheelchair accessible.
Everyone knows Tony and loves him! He is quite a popular guy! He welcomes everyone into his
life with open arms and loves to entertain in his self made Kauai inspired backyard. He would be the first person to care for anyone in need - feed them, make sure their feet aren’t cold, brush their hair, tell them stories, make them laugh - as he
has done in the past.
Please share his story. Any support, great or
small, will help him until he figures out how to
make his way through life financially without
using the one skill he has mastered and is most
passionate about.
We thank you for the bottom of our hearts!
Stay tuned here for updates on his journey to
recovery!
